Governor's Executive Order on Schools

Today, Governor Cuomo announced schools will remain closed and will continue to provide distance learning for the remainder of this academic year.

Other takeaways, from today’s briefing…

-          Schools must begin to develop plans to address the complexities associated with reopening;

-          A decision on summer school is expected by the end of May;

-          Ability to operate summer camps and summer programs will follow regional NY on PAUSE decisions

Certainly we will discuss these and other items including the Governor’s preliminary list of reopening considerations in greater detail at our upcoming diocesan principals meeting.

I trust this news comes with a flood of mixed emotions. I ask that you keep this in mind as you compassionately communicate today’s announcement to your school community. Now more than ever, let us lean on our faith to guide us to better days.
